November 19, 2017Hola, CIMSA #1
I’m Tiara from CIMSA UGM 2015. I recently just got a brand new experience as one of the new IFMSA-trainers through SRT Taiwan 2017.
Hola Tiara! So why do you want to participate SRT Taiwan 2017?
First of all, my basic knowledge in CIMSA ever since I have been a member is restricted to only about research – as I am a SCORE member – project, and community development as the two latter things are what I am specialized in. The reason behind my interest in becoming a trainer is because I was elected as CIMSA UGM’s supervising council, which requires me to be an expert for the fields I am responsible of supervising. One
of the positions I am currently supervising is the Human Resources and Development Coordinator.
The way I see it, the job as an HRDC circulates around coordinating the human resources of CIMSA, one group of which are trainers. Through my observation during national meetings and IFMSA meetings, I never fail to notice a lot of amazing trainers coming from CIMSA. I then wonder about the important roles they hold and also how to get such a wonderful public speaking skills as a trainer. The answer to those questions are simple, I have to become a trainer.
How’s the experience there? And what kind of benefit did you get?
When I first arrived in the hotel, I had a very nice impression of the whole event. The atmosphere was friendly, the staffs, OCs, and other delegates are very kind. I took the TNT workshop with so many other Indonesians and Taiwanese people. The fear of having separate groups inside the class due to different views and personalities never occurred to me as the participants have the same goals – it was as if we were old friends, not strangers. Through this event, I now have a brand new family and knowledge about so many things about the skills needed to become a great trainer and especially a doctor who will deal with so many people.
Since Taiwan is the second safest country in the world, I was very comfortable with exploring every bit of the city. Taiwan’s food is really great, I feel like the longer I stay, the fatter my body turns.
This is the best event I have participated so far. Thank you so much to CIMSA and IFMSA for giving me this awesome opportunity. I hope after becoming a trainer I can contribute more to the people around me
How did you participate this event?
I had missed my first opportunity of becoming a trainer through TNT Regio V because I had a lot in my plate, coming from both academic stuffs and CIMSA. Yet that did not make me stop, I knew I still had a chance to fulfill what I want. When the announcement of SRT Taiwan was broadcasted, I quickly registered. I made my motivation letter and CV, filled some forms, submitted them, and luckily I was accepted.
Once I joined the line group of SRT delegates, I was chosen as the head of Indonesian delegates by HRDD. It was an honor to me although I was afraid since I had almost 0 knowledge about the external things needed by the delegates. That, again, did not stop me, as I wanted to move forward towards greatness, thus I said yes and l learned a lot of external stuffs with my VLE.
Thank you Tiara for your wonderful story. One last thing, motivate us with some words to be active like you!
One thing I must say, we are a living gift, don’t ever limit yourself. Be whatever you want and don’t ever miss any opportunity that might just become the best things you can ever have. Set your goals, be a great doctor and person for everyone. Build your plans from now, because your dreams and goals without plans are just wishes!
