HIBERNASI – 4th Intervention
March 25, 2021KUMBANG X KENYANG 2.0 – Pre Project Training: WEBINAR
March 28, 2021Throughout the month of February, several weeks after the President of Indonesia got his first shot of COVID-19 vaccine, CIMSA UGM conducted interventions to show care, support, and actively participate in voicing the importance and urgency of COVID-19 vaccination. Based on pure concern of vaccine rejection and hoax among the people, also supported with pre-project assessments filled by Indonesians across 17 different provinces, CORVETTE started its activity by recruiting volunteers.
Based on our primary data which is filled by more than 300 responses, it shows that most of them had ever got information and were interested about COVID 19 vaccination information but sadly they were just a passive listener even though they agreed that COVID-19 information is easy to access. The data also show that the information that is available in society is hard to be trusted as the number of hoaxes and misinformation is really high. From the data, social media is on the top list where people get information about the COVID-19 vaccine. So that we choose several social media platform to educate the people
Committees and volunteers got the chance to do social experiments through OmeTV to know first-hand about people’s perception about COVID-19 vaccine. They were pretending to be medical personnel that were offered to get a vaccination. The goal of the social experiment is to know the way people think about vaccination and covid. In the end of the experiment we reveal ourself as a medical student and we educate them about the misinformation that they had mentioned. They also got to have a conversation with doctors and alumni who had experiences with COVID-19 vaccination to get further information in a chat meeting in LINE group. We invited three of our seniors and alumni members who were general practitioners and know well about the vaccination development in Indonesia.
CORVETTE created a WhatsApp broadcast series to tackle hoax that are known to easily spread through the said platform. The broadcast consists of facts and myths about COVID-19 vaccines, there were also attached links where people can easily find access to reliable COVID-19-related sites.
CIMSA UGM’s most trusted and impactful campaign method is also used in this activity, which is called “Campaign from Home”. It is where committees, volunteers, members, and officials try to gather their friends and families through online platforms like Zoom Meetings and Google Meet or where they can sit comfortably in their own home in a living room and educate them independently using prepared PowerPoints in a specified range of time.
Overall, data and information gathered throughout the whole activities were packaged into broadcast message, twitter threat, Vaccine 101 Handbook which also a collaboration with COFIGHT,, and an Instagram TV that shows recap of the social experiment, PowerPoint materials for Campaign from Home, and infographic publication in every CIMSA UGM’s social media. CORVETTE then ended with an Instagram Live and a presentation to the KMFK-KMK UGM in hopes for a more united and a massive movement where we can address COVID-19 issue until the pandemic ends.
The presentation to the KMFK-KMK gave a really positive feedback. All department and student organization in the faculty agree to do a massive activity to educate more people about the COVID-19 vaccination
