SECATEEN – Pre Project Training: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd

SCORA (Standing Committee on Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights including HIV & AIDS) is a part of CIMSA (Center for Indonesian Medical Students’ Activities) which focuses on health and other fields. In this regard, SCORA CIMSA UGM plans to hold community development at SMP Negeri 4 Ngaglik as a form of our concern as medical students for health and education problems.

Such as sexual health activities, and fellowship, especially teenagers in Yogyakarta, are very important and need serious attention at this time. WHO estimates that around 47% of adults in the world are engaged in casual sex. Meanwhile in Indonesia, based on a survey conducted by Global School Health in 2015, there were around 4.5% of men and 0.7% of women aged 15-19 years having had sex outside of marriage. This figure is closely related to the level of sexual disease and slavery, one of which is HIV / AIDS, which has been observed to increase every year.

Most of the perpetrators of casual sex are teenagers at the age of 11-21 years. In adolescence, a person will experience organ maturation, as well as the transition from childhood to adulthood. Teens develop in the sexual aspect to become more mature. This maturity causes adolescent interest and curiosity in sexual matters. A high level of curiosity can encourage a teenager to find out for themselves and try activities related to sexual relations.

In order to prevent negative things from a teenager’s curiosity about sexual matters, they need a good understanding of the topic. This Pre Project Training aims to provide provisions for OCs before carrying out activities regarding peer education.

There were 3 training sessions, including those delivered by PETRA, tabu.id, and rutgers.id. The first training is by PETRA, namely Kak Ragad about Basic Peer Educator and How to Apply Basic Peer Education Concept in Programs on February 12, in general, the pre-test and post-test had an average increase from 60.14 to 82.69 or an increase of as much as 22.55%. The increase in the mean is relatively high.

In addition, the training on Comprehensive Sexuality Education with Peer Education Approach on February 27 was filled by tabu.id represented by Kak Neira as co-founder of tabu.id. In general, the Pre Test and Post Test by tabu.id had an average increase from 42.64 to 76.68 or an increase of 34.04%.

Finally, on February 28, a training regarding tracking gender issues in adolescents, that was entitled as healthy adolescents without bullying by rutgers.id. In general, the Pre Test and Post Test by rutgers.id has increased the average proportion of correct answers from 53.96% to 91.58%, or an increase of 37.62%
