SCOPE & SCORE are exchange facilitators that allow all Indonesian medical students to learn about global health through intercultural methods. Every year, both standing committees send over 200 medical students on a month-long clinical or research exchange to other medical schools across the world.
Both SCOPE and SCORE have to prepare outgoing students before their exchanges and with that, one of the requirements is the Pre-Departure Exchange Training.
This training was held on the 12th of November 2021 by both LEO and LORE of CIMSA UGM and successfully hosted more than 30 outgoings. During the training, both LEO and LORE took all outgoings through the procedures and what to do during the exchange. There was also a session where the LEO and LORE showed the outgoings on how to utilize the new IFMSA exchange database, as well as the exchange conditions and paperworks that needed to be filled in as a part of the Card of Documents.
The training was opened by a pre-test session to assess the knowledge of the outgoings towards the exchange and the IFMSA database. After that, the LEO opened the training by presenting the material required for the outgoings to know such as the outgoing flow, deadlines of documents, when and where to submit the documents, as well as how to access the exchange conditions and Card of Documents requirements for each country. After the LEO presentation, the LORE continued on with the differences in the exchange between SCOPE and SCORE and decided to discuss the research projects that could be found in each country. This allowed the outgoings of SCORE to understand how they could pick the research projects that they were willing to participate in as well as see the variety of options that they can pick from. After training from both standing committees was conducted, there was a mini practical session given to the outgoing students regarding how to access the exchange conditions of their countries as well as see the documents that were required for the Card of Documents. The training was closed by a post-test session to assess the knowledge gained by the outgoings as well as the effectiveness of the training held by both LEO and LORE.
With this, both LEO and LORE hope that all outgoings can enjoy their exchange periods without any technical problems such as paperworks and card of document issues
