CRAYON 5th Intervention
CRAYON: Together Creating Healthy Life and Environment, an activity by Community Development Society (CDS) CIMSA UGM, aims to improve quality of life through creating a healthy lifestyle and environment in Yayasan Hamba. CRAYON 5th Intervention was held in November 2024, focusing on the topics of mindfulness eating and oral hygiene, following the success of previous interventions that improved the caregivers and children’s knowledge about clean and healthy living behavior.
The pre-project training of CRAYON 5th Intervention, a training for the Organizing Committee, was held on 15th of November 2024 with Adinda Nasywa as the Public Health Trainer (PHT). The training addressed the essential aspects of mindfulness eating and oral hygiene, it included pre-test, training session, ice breaking, post-test, and focus group discussion involving all OCs. The training provided the OCs with the skills to serve as facilitators during the main event.

The main event was held at Yayasan Hamba Yogyakarta on 24th of November 2024, participated by the children and the caregivers of Yayasan Hamba Yogyakarta. The session was conducted in two different ways to ensure the effective learning of both audiences. The activities began with a brief review of clean and healthy living behavior material from the previous intervention, followed by the mindfulness eating and oral hygiene learning session. For the children, the material was delivered interactively by the facilitators (OCs of CRAYON). Games, storytelling, and quiz activities were included to enhance the children’s understanding. For the caregivers, two expert speakers were invited. A dentist, drg. Yunirahmilia, M.DSc., presented the topics of oral hygiene, highlighting proper brushing techniques and the importance of dental care for children. A doctor, dr. Frasisca Romana Herin P., M.Biomed., introduced the concept of mindful eating, starting with a short meditation and highlighting how mindfulness during meals could improve our physical and emotional health.
After the main event, a five-day challenge was conducted as a follow-up method. Involving the children and caregivers. The challenge involved activities promoting consistent application of the learned habits. The children were encouraged to practice mindfulness eating and proper brushing techniques, while caregivers monitored and documented their activities. This follow up aims to build a positive behavior and measure the program’s impact on Yayasan Hamba. We hope that the 5th Intervention of CRAYON would create lasting positive-changes and contribute to a healthier future for Yayasan Hamba.
