COMDEV CLIPS HEATHER: Healthy Soul for The Healthier Life
COMDEV CLIPS
HEATHER 2nd INTERVENTION
HEATHER: Healthy Soul for The Healthier Life is a community development project by SCOPH CIMSA UGM that aims to improve the knowledge and awareness of SMAN 6 Yogyakarta students regarding mental health, as well as educate them to be good listeners. After the first intervention in April, we held the second Intervention in September, consisting of three events: Pre-Project Training, Main Intervention, and Follow-Up.
Pre-Project Training was held on September 6th, 2024. We invited Ruth Regine Heryjanto, a Public Health Trainer (PHT), as the speaker. After training, all OCs attended a role-play session regarding how to be a good listener. This session was guided by a checklist designed by the OCs and the PHT. Hopefully, from this training, the OCs will be better listeners. All OCs, as facilitators, also learned to make flower crafts from pipe cleaners as an example of an effective coping mechanism. The flowers will then be given to the SMAN 6 Yogyakarta students in the Main Intervention.

The Main Intervention was held on September 19th, 2024, in SMAN 6 Yogyakarta, involving 24 students. The event began with a mental health screening with the Depression Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-42) questionnaire. This screening score will then be used as the basis for a counselling session in the Follow-Up. We continued with a seminar regarding mental health issues and coping mechanisms, carried out by Andayani Muktiasari, M.Psi., a psychologist from Adante Solution. There was also a small working group session to make posters and flowers from pipe cleaner. The posters will be used as education media for the upcoming ground campaign, while the flowers were given to the target students.
The Follow Up was held on September 25th, 2024 and began with a counselling session led by Afifa Rifda Nabila, M.Psi., Psikolog and R.Aj Iswaranisita Yudhaningrum, M.Psi., Psikolog. The students who got notable results on the DASS-42 questionnaire got the opportunity to discuss their thoughts and feelings with the psychologist. Meanwhile, the other students had a counselling session with the OCs. The activity continued with a ground campaign by the students about mental health issues and coping mechanisms. Our community succeeded to gather more than 50 targets. The activity ended with a documentation session.

Through the Second Intervention of HEATHER, we hope students of SMAN 6 Yogyakarta and SCOPH members can learn about the mental health issues and coping mechanisms related to teenagers and train themselves to be good mental health educators among others.
