ANTELOPE 1st Intervention

ANTELOPE: Take Action for Tuberculosis Prevention is a Community Development Society (CDS) CIMSA UGM work program with a mission to enhance the knowledge, awareness, and behavior of health cadres in the sub-district under the guidance of Umbulharjo I Primary Health Center. This year, ANTELOPE adopts the theme “Breathe Free, Break the Stigma”, aiming to prevent tuberculosis (TB), eliminate the stigma surrounding TB, and optimize the role of cadres in empowering the local community.

The first activity, Connect & Bonding, was held on April 12th, 2025, marking the first encounter between the committee and the health cadres. During this session, we introduced CIMSA and the principles of community development, including the goals of ANTELOPE. To build a sense of solidarity and purpose, the committee and cadres created TB-themed tote bags together, which would later be distributed during public educational outreach.

On April 21st, 2025, we conducted a Pre-Project Training featuring a public health trainer and Dr. Felisia from Zero TB Yogyakarta. This session delivered in-depth knowledge on TB transmission, prevention, and stigma elimination. The training included interactive methods like roleplay to familiarize the committee on communicating and educating cadres. The committee also prepared handcrafted pipe flowers and personal letters to give to the cadres as a gesture of appreciation, symbolizing support and respect. The Main Intervention, held on April 26th, 2025, featured an expert session by dr. Taufik Indrawan, Sp.PD, covering TB’s causes, symptoms, risk factors, and the importance of addressing stigma. This was followed by another roleplay guided by Latifah Eka Pusparini, M.A. from Siklus Indonesia, helping cadres simulate real-life outreach using an educational calendar. Additionally, a debate session was held, providing cadres a platform to discuss stigma issues, sharpen their critical thinking, and build public speaking confidence.

For the follow-up, cadres actively participated in educating residents at local events in their respective sub-district. By applying the knowledge gained, they took real action to spread awareness and break the stigma at the grassroots level.
