Argentina is a federal republic. The public health administered at a municipal level, this calis decentralized system. Primary health care is often independently managed by each city.There are three sectors of health care in Argentina:
- The public sector
This sector provides free or highly subsidised health services to around 50% of people in Argentina, including both nationals and foreigners. Medical, hospital, dental and palliative care, rehabilitation, prosthetics and medical transport are free of charge. But the do charge for prescriptions. There is a 30% cost participation for chronic conditions, and a 60% cost participation for everyday prescriptions.
- Social security (obras sociales – OS)
Obras sociales generally for workers in unions. This sector financed by compulsory payroll contributions of employers and employees, these health insurance are the most common form of health insurance in Argentina. This health care system is provided by private providers but supervised by national health insurance administration. Obras sociales schemes must guarantee minimum medical coverage such as preventative, diagnostic, medical and dental treatment, maternity, etc. The patient covers the difference in cost between the fixed fee and the cost of treatment.
- Private sector
These sectors are classic private insurance policies which anyone can choose to subscribe to. Around 5% of the population choose for private health insurance.

Food
- Locro – traditional
Locro is a traditional Argentinian stew. Traditionally served to commemorate Argentina’s May Revolution on May 25 but also as a cure for the cold winters, locro is considered a national dish. Locro is soup made from corn, beans, potatoes, squah, meat, and seasoned with cumin and bay leaf.
- Asado & parrillas
Asado & parrillas is Argentinian barbeque. Asado is mostly used to describe the traditional event of the Argentinian barbecue, largely common between families and friends in the weekends. It’s also used to describe the method of grilling. And parrillas Argentinian word for grill.
- Empanadas
Empanadas is a fried or baked dough stuffed with meat. Empanadas is one od Argentina’s street food culture. The most common filling is minced or sliced-by-hand beef, seasoned with cumin and onion.
- Choripan
Choripan is Argentinian hot-dog. Named out of chorizo and pan which means bread, topped with fresh and spicy chimichurri. Choripan is one of Argentina’s street food.
