SECATEEN – 1st Intervention
March 28, 2021LISTEN 2.0: Let’s be Aware of Depression
May 7, 2021HIBERNASI (Hidup Bersih dan Sehat Bersama CIMSA) is a Community development held by CIMSA UGM. This Community development takes place in Yayasan Hamba, Sleman, Yogyakarta and consists of children from various age groups and their caregivers. Previously, four interventions and a mini-intervention had been held in Yayasan Hamba, making this the fifth intervention of HIBERNASI. Our main themes for this intervention are self-hygiene and the use of herbal medicine, seeing the importance of taking care of the health of everyone in this current situation.
As the COVID-19 pandemic situation had yet to improve, the last few interventions are held online. This intervention in no exception, as it was held via Zoom on Saturday and Monday, 13th and 15th March 2021. For this intervention, we divided the group into two according to the children’s age group on the first day. After the opening ceremony on the main room, the teenagers are placed in a breakout room, whereas the children stayed in the main room for their session. This was done to ensure better understanding of the material. After the children and the teenagers are divided into two separate groups, both groups were given a pre-test with different mechanisms. The children were given questions that were shown from the screen, while the teenagers did the pre-test as usual. After the pre-test, the teenagers listened to two lectures from Organizing Comitte and PDHMI. On the other hand, the method of teaching for the children are packaged in a skit by the Organizing Comittee. Both groups then took the post-test to measure their understanding of the material. As with the previous interventions, we also made sure to bond with the children of Yayasan Hamba. For this intervention, our choice of bonding method is through games. Finally, the first day concludes with a photo session.
The activities for the second day were targeted towards the caregivers of Yayasan Hamba. After the opening ceremony, the second day started with a pre-test. Next, the speaker for the second day of this intervention, dr. Sri Redjeki Endang Setionowaty, M.Si. from PDHMI, gave a lecture about the use of herbal medicine. The caregivers of Yayasan Hamba are interested to know more about this topic, as shown by their enthusiasm during the QnA session. To make the material easier to remember, we also prepared a game of tic tac toe about the myths and facts of herbal medicine. After the game concludes, the caregivers then took the post-test to measure their understanding of the material. As with the first day, the second day also ends with a photo session.
We sincerely hope that the fifth intervention of HIBERNASI could highlight the importance of taking care of one’s health using herbal medicine during these trying times, as well as maintaining a good level of self-hygiene. We also hope that HIBERNASI as a whole could bring a positive impact for the children and the caregivers of Yayasan Hamba.
